Vivid Square

From 2016 to 2020, I co-developed a strategic vision for the cultural management and communication of an architectural pilot EU project called Vivid Square zivenamestie.sk. The project was part of a European cultural platform called Shared Cities: Creative Momentum, a platform of 11 European organizations – a network of NGOs, universities, governmental organisations and municipalities. From 2016 to 2020 Shared Cities directly engaged with approximately 60,000 European citizens across 495 events and reached a global audience of 25 million people through a variety of media platforms.

The Vivid Square project presented a large quantity of collected and newly elaborated data concerning Kamenné Square and SNP Square. They served as base for the architectural competition. The project also includes the so-called quick wins. They were also based on the collected data and included a set of changes that were implemented in a relatively short time with a restricted budget, but significantly improved the experience in these public spaces.

Over the past years, our team collected hundreds of suggestions and prepared numerous proposals to improve the mentioned area of SNP square. In 2019, the Vivid Square project was taken over by the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava /MIB/, which used the documents from the Vivid Square project to prepare a timeline for implementing improvements that can bring quick and positive change for the residents of the city. These reports also served as an inspiration for the manual for public spaces published later by the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava.

If you would like to see the project in detail, you can download multiple data sets at the website zivenamestie.sk or directly Vivid Square’ (project summary), March 1, 2018, or
